Christmas Range Lights

Established in 1868, the Grand Island Harbor Range Rear “Christmas Light” is an inactive lighthouse. The light tower is about 62 feet tall. The rear light was abandoned in 1969 and is now overseen by the U.S Forest Service. It is tucked away south of M-28 near the town of Christmas where many people drive by without even noticing it. During the Christmas season they have festive holiday lights lit.

When we were looking for this lighthouse on the map we were quite surprised that as soon as we turn off on to the road where the lighthouse is it’s a very narrow path that leads right up to the light.

Directions: Drive M-28 West, between Munising and Christmas near the “Welcome to Christmas” sign.
