Tuckaleechee Caverns, Townsend, Tennessee

The Tuckaleechee Caverns are carved under the Smokey Mountains.


The caverns first open to the public in 1931 and were closed the following year due to the Great Depression. The caverns reopened in 1953.


The caverns are opened to the public for tours.


On the tour, you will see the Silver Falls waterfalls, located inside the caverns. It falls 210 feet from top to bottom, The Big Room, it’s as big as a football field and 24 feet stalagmites.
